How Word to PDF works

Word to PDF turns a modern .docx file into a PDF you can send when the other person should not edit the wording.

Legacy .doc files from older Word are not the same format. Save as .docx first if a file is rejected.

Steps

  1. Drop one or more .docx files.
  2. Convert them in this tab.
  3. Open the PDF and check page breaks, especially around tables.
  4. Keep the Word file as your editable copy.

Limits

Tracked changes, some fonts, and complex fields may not match Word’s own Export to PDF.

Which Word files work

Drop .docx. An older .doc file is a different format and will not follow the same path. Images and headings that Word itself can show are the ones that have a chance.

Open the PDF and look at page breaks. A wide table may overflow. Keep the .docx if you still need to edit the wording.
